Make sure you're using the correct email address and password. Follow the prompts to give Nextdoor access to your email contacts. Sync your contacts to Nextdoor In the Nextdoor Android app, tap your profile picture in the top left corner of the screen.

Scroll down to See who you know nearby. You can tap the Message icon to send them a chat message. Using the Contact Map on Nextdoor helps you stay in touch with your contacts, know when a contact has moved to a new city, discover who you can meet up with when traveling, and ask for local city recommendations.

If your contacts are already synced, you can skip to step 5. See who you know nearby with the Contact Map Neighbors. Tap the map under See who you know nearby and tap Sync your contacts. Tap the name of the neighbor you wish to view to see their Nextdoor profile.

You can tap the Message icon to send them a direct message. Scroll around the map to see which of your contacts on Nextdoor are nearby, or pinch to zoom in or out to view your contacts around the country. From the menu, select Invite neighbors.

If you turn either or both off, you will not appear on the map.
